Meet Liz

I started learning about pregnancy and birth when I was five years old from my mom’s nursing text books. Eventually one of these books (I still have it) lived under my bed so that I could study it whenever I wanted. I was fascinated by pregnancy and babies, and this is still the case! During my first degree at the University of Guelph I heard the word midwife and it instantly resonated with me because it brought together the science of birth as well as the art of working with people and their families. In 2005 I was amongst the first seven women to graduate from UBC’s inaugural midwifery program.

I spent my first ten years working in high volume clinics in Vancouver, however my dream was to always come and work on Vancouver Island. In 2014 I moved to the Comox Valley and joined Comox Valley Midwives, which was the birthplace of Cedar House Midwives! Recently I have started my Master’s in Counselling as I have great passion for supporting mental wellness. When I am not looking after families or doing homework I love spending time with my daughter in the great outdoors, preferably swimming. I look forward to meeting and caring for you during this incredibly special time.

With gratitude, I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work on the unceded traditional territory of the K'ómoks First Nation.
